Nashville Brunch Blog: THE SOUTHERN Steak & Oyster

What a lovely Sunday afternoon at THE SOUTHERN Steak and Oyster in SoBro, one of Nashville's vibrant suburbs. A string jazz quartet playing LIVE music in the foyer was a welcome greeting after dropping our car at the Complimentary Valet. It's a good thing I made reservations for our party of 4 in advance, because the place was packed. We were taken to our table immediately upon check-in, and from there it just got better.
Our server was very friendly and quite accommodating. We spent the next couple of hours un-rushed, enjoying the food, live music, atmosphere and company of friends.
The table ordered Starters of Biscuits & Gravy to share and Breaux Bros. Gumbo as well as Entrees of Shrimp & Grits in Creole Sauce, “The Highway” Chicken and Waffles, Spicy Fried Hot Chicken Salad and a Southern Fried Egg Sandwich with red pepper aioli & Fries.
The Southern also offers dessert at Brunch just in case you're in the mood for something sweet. We chose the Dark Chocolate Gelato. Yum!
Brunch is served 10:00am-3:00pm
Saturday & Sunday
Dress Code: Smart Casual
I'd definitely say we had a wonderful experience with all the great comfort food! If you're looking for classic southern with a twist, try the Southern for brunch sometime soon.
They're also open for lunch and dinner nightly, but be sure to make reservations for dinner.
